The Centre of Excellence in Data Science & AI, TIET, the organiser of Israeli-Indian Hackathon, is a cross-disciplinary research centre advancing foundational and applied research in data science and AI, jointly located at Thapar Institute, Patiala, India, and The University of Queensland, Australia. It works to bridge national and disciplinary boundaries—spanning computer science, engineering, health, agriculture, and more—to develop innovative solutions for global challenges and foster knowledge exchange between two leading institutions.

Registration, Rules and Guidelines
- Open to undergraduate/graduate students (any discipline) and working professionals currently residing in India or Israel.
- Thapar students must participate offline; others will join online.
- Teams of 1-6 members.
- Must have basic technical knowledge in chosen domain.
- No registration fee.
- All ideas must be original and built during the hackathon.
- Teams must take part in all 3 rounds to stay eligible.
- Offline teams present at the venue; online teams submit projects digitally.
- Each participant can join only one team.

Expert Judges
Eligibility Criteria for Judges
- Relevant expertise in software development, engineering, AI, cybersecurity, healthcare, or related domains.
- At least 3-5 years of industry, research, or academic experience related to the hackathon's focus.
- Experience in evaluating projects, mentoring startups, or working on innovative solutions is a plus.
- Must be unbiased, professional, and capable of evaluating projects based on merit.
- Strong analytical and communication skills to assess feasibility, innovation, and impact.
- Available for the entire judging process, including Q&A sessions and final evaluations.
Selection Criteria
Technical Knowledge
Expertise in programming, design, AI, IoT, cybersecurity, blockchain, or other relevant fields.
Industry Representation
A mix of professionals from startups, tech companies, academia, and government bodies for balanced perspectives.
Experience in Competitions
Previous experience judging hackathons, startup pitches, or research competitions is preferred.
Diversity in Backgrounds
Judges from diverse sectors like academia, startups, corporate R&D, and venture capital for well-rounded feedback.
Reputation & Credibility
Well-respected in their domain, recognized by peers, or have significant contributions in their field.
Neutrality
No personal or business relationships with participants to maintain fairness.
Selection Process
- 1Identifying Potential JudgesReach out to industry leaders, professors, startup founders, and past hackathon winners. Seek recommendations from sponsors, organizing committees, and past judges. Utilize LinkedIn, professional networks, and academic conferences to find qualified individuals.
- 2Screening & ShortlistingVerify credentials, technical expertise, and past judging experience. Ensure a balance between industry professionals and academicians. Confirm willingness and availability to judge fairly and effectively.
- 3Invitation & ConfirmationSend formal invitations outlining responsibilities, judging criteria, and the event schedule. Obtain a commitment and ensure they agree to ethical guidelines.
- 4Briefing & OrientationConduct a pre-hackathon session to explain scoring criteria, expected evaluation depth, and guidelines. Provide judges with hackathon themes, submission guidelines, and scoring rubrics in advance.
